One person has died after a wrong-way crash on Route 2 in Glastonbury on Monday morning.
According to the Connecticut Department of Transportation, the crash happened around 4:30 a.m. and has closed Route 2 eastbound between exits 8 and 9.
Police said a car was traveling the wrong way, driving westbound in the eastbound lanes, when it collided with a tractor-trailer truck.
A trooper at Troop H said one person involved in the crash has died. Officials have not released the person’s identity.
The State Police reconstruction team has been called to the crash. The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection has also been called to clean up a fuel spill.
Officers said the left two lanes are closed and the right lane is open using the breakdown shoulder, but police believe there may be periods of full lane closures.
There is no estimate for when the highway will fully reopen.
