A 30-year-old Easton man is accused of setting a Massachusetts home on fire and executing a man and woman as they fled the flames in 2011.
It is unclear how long Waldos Rojas has been living in Easton, but on Wednesday afternoon U.S. Marshals and Northampton County sheriffs deputies arrested Rojas at a home on the 200 block of West Madison Street. The Essex County District Attorney’s Office in Massachusetts filed a warrant for Rojas arrest on two counts of murder and arson.
According to a news release issued by authorities in Massachusetts, after midnight, Oct. 17, 2011, Rojas set fire to the three-story, multi-residence home on Bailey Street in Lawrence, Massachusetts.
As Daniel Diaz, 29, and Leyda Elizabeth Hernandez, 25, fled, Rojas shot them in the head “execution-style,” officials said.
Rojas was arraigned shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday before Northampton County Judge Jennifer Sletvold in Easton. He is being held pending an extradition hearing.
