Safety is a top priority for Americans and most people want to feel safe where they live. WalletHub released a new report that ranked the safest states around America for 2018.
Of all the sates, Massachusetts was named the ninth safest state with a total score of 59.21.
The report took 48 factors into consideration to compile the rankings, including: climate change, law enforcement and first responder employees, unemployment rates and crime rates. WalletHub compiled the factors into five groups used to determine the overall rankings:
- Personal and Residential Safety
- Financial Safety
- Road Safety
- Workplace Safety
- Emergency Preparedness
Massachusetts ranked eighth in personal and residential safety, ninth in financial safety, seventh in road safety, and tenth in emergency preparedness.
In addition, Massachusetts also ranked first for fewest fatalities per 100 million vehicle miles of travel and first in lowest share of uninsured population.
