Troubled retailer Sears Holdings will close its Kmart location at 180 Main St. in Saugus on Sunday.
The Saugus location is one of 40 — including 31 Sears stores and nine Kmart stores — that will close no later than August, according to a list published Friday by the website Business Insider. The 40 stores are in 24 states.
Store staff in Saugus confirmed the date of closure Monday night.
Following the Saugus closing, Kmart and Sears will have 31 stores in Massachusetts.
Kmart has stores in Acton, Billerica, Brockton, Holyoke, Hyannis, Palmer, Somerville and Webster.
