(WTNH) – A teen was arrested and three juveniles were detained following a stolen vehicle pursuit across multiple towns early Monday morning.
Just before 3 a.m. on Monday morning, state police say Westport police advised troopers that they were pursuing two vehicles. They say one was a dark Acura wanted in connection to several car break-ins in the shoreline town.
According to authorities, Westport police told troopers that their pursuit stopped in the area of exit 18 of Interstate 95 northbound and that the two vehicles continued on the highway.
With the help of the Department of Transportation, state police say both vehicles were spotted on highway cameras driving near exit 25.
Then the highway cameras observed that the two cars were allegedly stopped at exit 30. Officials say the occupants of the Acura abandoned the car and got into what was later known as a stolen silver Hyundai.
Officials say the sedan was located near exit 44 in West Haven. They say from there the driver, 18-year-old Jordan Butler of Waterbury, engaged troopers in a pursuit.
Authorities say the pursuit ended between exits 59 and 60 in Guilford after stop sticks were deployed to stop the stolen car.
The four occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody.
State police say three of the occupants were juveniles detained and issued juveniles summons. They say they were released to the custody of their parents.
Authorities say Butler was processed by troopers and held on a $25,000 bond.
He was charged with many charges, including reckless driving, engage police pursuit, risk of injury to a child and more.
Butler is scheduled to appear in court at Bridgeport Superior Courton Tuesday May 1.
